Full description

Discover the purest dimension of the mountains through a discipline that will bring you into contact with unspoilt nature, far from the crowds of tourists and the hustle and bustle of the slopes: ski mountaineering.

With this basic ski mountaineering course, you will have 4 full days to learn how to ascend slopes with sealskins and acquire the best off-piste descent techniques.

Every Sunday of the month you will tackle a different itinerary in the Piedmontese Alps together with an Alpine Guide and begin your journey as a ski m ountaineer, discovering, day after day, new emotions and wonderful places accessible only to lovers of this sport.

What we will do

The basic ski mountaineering course consists of 4 days of lessons and practice: every Sunday of the month from 8am to 5pm. The meeting with the Alpine Guide will take place in Issiglio (TO ) before heading to the place where you will get to the heart of the discipline.

From day to day, the guide will select the most suitable locations and itineraries for the course, based on snow and weather conditions and the level of participants, remaining in the area between Ivrea and the borders with Valle d'Aosta.

The first day will take place on the ski slopes and will be used to check the participants' technical level and to correct any faults that may be critical in off-piste descents. The second part of the lesson will provide basic notions of theory and safety.

The other days will be actual ski mountaineering outings. Beginning with easy and gradually more challenging routes, you will learn the techniques of ascending with sealskins, making ascents of between 700 and 900 metres in altitude, and then descending to the valley experiencing the thrills of skiing on fresh snow.

The course will be predominantly practical, but will not neglect indispensable aspects of theory, useful for any outing away from the groomed pistes, they will learn to use the emergency kit (probe, shovel and artva) and will carry out self-rescue tests.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is at an intermediate level and is open to all skiers who are familiar with red slopes. You can participate from the age of 18 and up.
