Mountaineering is a discipline full of emotions. The height, the nature, the vivid colours and the breathtaking views are just some of the many surprises that a high mountain ascent can bring. If you are new to this type of experience, you are in the right place!
The ascent to Mount Breithorn, on the Monte Rosa Massif in the Aosta Valley, is an outing dedicated to all those who want to approach the world of mountaineering and experience the sensation of being at an altitude of more than 4,000 metres.
Under the watchful eye of a certified mountain guide, you will reach the summit in total safety and the satisfaction of having made it will be accompanied by one of the most incredible panoramas you have ever seen. Ready to go?
What we will do
We will meet at 8 a.m. in Cervinia, at the departure point of the Plateau Rosa cable car. From here, together with the guide, we will ascend to the Cervino Guide hut where we will have time for breakfast. After that, we will have a short briefing in which we will be given the technical basics and safety instructions, prepare ourequipment and be ready to set off.
The route begins immediately in a snowy environment, so it will be necessary to use crampons from the start. After about an hour's walk, we will rope up to continue the ascent on the glacier that leads to the beautiful, wide final ridge to the summit at an altitude of 4,164 metres.
The ascent involves an altitude difference of 700 metres. Once at the summit, we will descend by the same route. The activity takes about 6 hours, of which 3 will be needed to complete the progression on ice. Technically, the ascent is also suitable for those who are new to mountaineering, but are minimally trained in walking in the mountains.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is at an intermediate level and is open to everyone who is in good physical condition and does not suffer from any illnesses incompatible with high altitude. The minimum age to participate is 16.

Attention! Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.
The activity takes place in June, July and August and is confirmed when there are at least 2 participants.
After booking, you can make arrangements with your guide to leave together from Milan.
It is possible to stay overnight at the Matterhorn Guide hut the evening before the hike. The price for half board is €60 to be paid on site.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is moderate. You get a full refund if you cancel within 8 days from the activity start date. Within 7 and 5 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
