Falconer for a day in Castel Volturno

We are waiting for you at Castel Volturno, in the Caserta countryside, for an introductory experience in the age-old art of falconry.

Between theory and practice, you will discover how to take care of fascinating birds of prey under the supervision of a falconer and get to hold one in your fist. Will you accept the challenge?

What we will do

The meeting will take place 20 minutes before the time indicated in the booking in Castel Volturno (CE).

On arrival we will be welcomed by the falconer, in whose company we will experience our exciting encounter with birds of prey: a total immersion in the age-old art of falconry.

We will begin with atheoretical introduction, which will include some historical background and a presentation of the species present, such as the African owl, the Virginia owl, the Harris's buzzard and theowl. We will discover their different characteristics, habits and unique personalities, but also how to take care of them through feeding and daily routines.

Then we will delve into more technical notions, in particular the accessories used in falconry, such as the glove, laces, getos and perches, all essential tools for making contact with our birds of prey.

The most exciting and engaging part will be thedirect interaction with the birds of prey. Under the guidance of the falconer, we will be able to put on the glove and hold a bird of prey in our fist, feeling its strength and the naturalness of this ancient gesture.

The experience will end with a moment of dialogue in which we can ask questions and share our impressions. As a memento of this day, we will also receive a certificate of participation.

For those who wish, it will be possible to extend the activity with a tasting of typical Campanian products (optional), such as buffalo mozzarella, local cold cuts and local wine, set up in an outdoor country-style area (choose the'with tasting' option when booking).

The experience will last a total of 45 minutes.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is of an easy level and suitable for people aged 18 and over.

Wheelchair users can participate in this activity: in case of motor problems, please inform the organisers at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email for organisational needs.

Other information

The activity is available all year round (except Mondays and major holidays) and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants.

The tasting of typical products is optional and can be added to the experience by selecting the"with tasting" option when booking. In the event of food allergies and/or intolerances, please inform the organisers at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email.

For safety reasons, dogs are not allowed in this activity.

The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport; free parking is available.
