Full description
If you like flying and piloting an aircraft is your dream, you cannot miss the extraordinary thrill of trying gliding. You will become a pilot for a day atPavullo Airport, near Modena. You will have a fantastic experience in total safety, assisted by an expert instructor.
Theglider is a very special aircraft: its highly aerodynamic shape, with its narrow, tapered cabin and very long wings, allows it to fly by exploiting the updrafts of the wind.
As it is not equipped with an engine, it needs a tow to take off, which can either be a powered aircraft or a very long cable that quickly coils onto a powerful winch fixed to the ground. Once at altitude, the glider detaches itself from the tow and begins its slow but inexorable descent. Ready for this?
What we will do
The experience begins at the flight school atPavullo nel Frignano Airport (MO) with a short classroom lesson. The instructors will introduce you to the world of gliding, which makes the most of the principles ofaerodynamics, and provide you with notions of the controls. After that, you will begin the practical session where you will test what you have learnt and finally board theglider together with your instructor.
The flight will last about 30 minutes and will depend on wind conditions, which, with its updrafts, will support the glider by making it gain altitude and slowing its descent. The sun, warming the air, can also affect the duration and quality of the flight. In general, flying a glider means relying on the surprises of nature, indulging it and being amazed every time.
After the flight, there will be a debriefing, with a summary of the activities carried out and presentation of the 'baptism of the air'certificate. The activity lasts a total of 1 hour, but we recommend spending the whole day at theAero Club Pavullo, either assisting the student pilots or dedicating yourself to other activities that can be carried out near the centre, such as walks in the woods, mountain-bike rid es or guided tours of nearby tourist sites (not included in the participation fee).
Who it is aimed at
This activity is at an easy level and open to all healthy persons aged 6 years and over (for minors, a signed authorisation from the parent or guardian is required).
Other information
Attention! Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of the activity.
Flights are strictly weather-related: in case of bad weather, it will not be possible to fly and the activity will have to be rescheduled.
The exact flight time will be confirmed to you by the instructor a few days before the activity. A minimum of flexibility on the timetable is required as the aero club serves as a base for the 118 helicopter, and in the event of an emergency, activities are temporarily interrupted.
Important: the day before the scheduled date, please call or text the pilot to confirm the activity (you will receive contact details once you have made your booking).
All activities that are not specifically related to flying (guided tours, itineraries, use of aero club facilities, etc.) are not included in the participation fee, must be agreed with the organiser after booking and, if they are paid for, must be settled on site.
