Explore Tuscia Viterbese... in the saddle!
In the company of our equestrian guide, take part in a horseback ride along wooded paths dating back to the Etruscan period. You will reach the village of Montecalvello, to discover the Castle of Balthus.
A 2-hour experience between nature and history!
What we will do
The appointment is 20 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Vallebona, near Grotte Santo Stefano (VT). Awaiting us will be the equestrian guide and riding instructor who will accompany us on this adventure!
Having gathered all the participants, we will get to know the horses and mount the saddle; for those arriving on site further in advance, it will also be possible to participate in the preparation of the horse and saddling up. The guide will then explain the basics of riding during a trial ride in the field. This first moment will last approximately 15 minutes.
It will then be the start of our horseback ride: we will venture into the nature of Tuscia Viterbese, along wooded paths characterised by gentle ups and downs; the guide will lead us on horseback and provide us with constant support. We will then reach the village of Montecalvello, where we will dismount to walk up to the Castle of Balthus, just 200 metres away: we will visit the fortification from the outside, enjoying the panoramic view of the entire valley and listening to stories and curiosities told by the guide.
Back in the saddle, after riding about 7 km we will return to the meeting point. The horseback ride will last 1 ½ hours; the total experience will last 2 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for ages 14 and up; children under the age of 18 must be accompanied on the walk by a participating adult or in the riding hall by a responsible adult for signing the release form.
A maximum weight of 120 kg is required to participate.

The experience takes place all year round at weekends and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 2 participants.
There is free parking on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.
