Full description

Treat yourself to half a day in contact with nature in one of Italy's most luxuriant environmental settings: the Tuscan Maremma. Riding a horse you will discover the secrets of this land, amidst unspoilt landscapes, medieval villages, livestock farms and farms with the flavour of yesteryear.

TheUpper Maremma is also famous for its Colline Metallifere, exploited since ancient times for the extraction of minerals and metals. A local expert guide will take you to the most evocative and interesting spots and let you experience the authentic and genuine spirit of the inhabitants of this area.

An excursion for those who love tranquillity, nature and contact with an extraordinary animal. If you have never ridden a horse, no problem, this activity is open to riders of all levels. We are waiting for you!

What we will do

We will meet at a riding school near Montieri, in the province of Grosseto. There we will meet the guide who will accompany us on the excursion. After having a coffee and familiarising ourselves with the environment, we will visit the estate and the riding school. We will approach the horses, we will be able to look at them and caress them while the guide will explain how best to approach them.

Those who wish will be able to actively participate in the harnessing, and after that, we will be ready to mount. Before setting off on the excursion, we will perform a warm-up inside the riding hall enclosure. We will go over riding techniques and get familiar with the animal, for those who are new to riding. The horses are all well-trained and pedigree; the guide will reserve the most docile for less experienced riders.

The terrain offers many possibilities and the route will vary in difficulty and length depending on the level of experience of the participants. There will be stretches of great scenic value, hilly and wooded paths and streams to ford. Among the points of interest we will visit: the village of Niccioleta, the town of Massa Marittina, the ancient mining routes, ancient springs and plateaus that hosted the first animal-drawn railways for transporting ore. You will ride in total tranquillity, taking breaks as often as necessary.

The activity lasts about three hours and we will always ride ring routes, which will take us back to the farm without ever passing the same point.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is at an easy level and is open to riders of all levels. The only requirements are to be at least 14 years old and weigh no more than 85 kg.
