To admire wild landscapes, you don't need to book a trip to Mongolia: come for a horseback ride on the Abruzzo highlands!
We are waiting for you in Ovindoli for a2-hour excursion that will take you and a guide to discover the Piani di Pezza, an uncontaminated place at the foot of Mount Velino.
Get in the saddle and get ready to open your eyes wide to wonder!
What we will do
The appointment is at the riding school in Ovindoli (AQ), 10 minutes before the indicated time.
The equestrian guide will immediately take us to meet the horses assigned to us and will hold a briefing of about 5 minutes to help us mount the saddle and show us the main commands, to be perfected later during the ride.
Leaving the riding stables at an altitude of 1,400 metres, we will begin our ride along an initial flat stretch of about 4 km in the direction of Rovere. Having passed this small village, the oldest on theAltopiano delle Rocche plateau, we will begin to climb to reach the pass that will take us to the Piani di Pezza.
Here we will be confronted with a stupendous panorama at an altitude of 1,700 m: the Piani di Pezza are a karst plateau set among green beech forests, at the foot of Mount Velino, and are still one of the most unspoilt places in the Apennines.
The return route will take us past the Ovindoli ski fields, and then back to the stables after covering about 15 km.
The activity will last a total of 2 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The walk is suitable for everyone from the age of 10. Minors must be accompanied by an adult during the activity.
No horse ridingexperience is required.
The maximum weight for participants is 120 kg.

The activity takes place from March to October and is confirmed with a minimum number of 2 participants.
The route indicated may vary depending on weather and terrain conditions .
The mount used is the American one.
Any accompanying persons may wait in the riding hall during the activity; dogs on a leash are allowed on the premises.
The meeting point is not easily accessible by public transport; free parking is available on site.
