Full description

For those who are not satisfied with traditional winter sports, Trentino Alto Adige holds exciting scenery for practising a unique sport in the coldest season:climbing frozen waterfalls.

In winter, the resurgences in the Trentino valleys take on new guises and turn into real ice walls, all to be climbed and explored withice climbing, an exciting discipline. Try it in complete safety accompanied by expert mountain guides.

The many waterfalls in Val di Sole, Val di Peio and Val di Rabbi guarantee stable and optimal conditions for ice climbing. They are all very beautiful and, depending on the weather conditions at the time, the guide will choose the most suitable one to offer you the best possible experience. What are you waiting for?

What we will do

The meeting point will be in Dimaro, in the province of Trento. Once we have checked in, we will be given ourtechnical equipment and meet the guide who will accompany us on the activity. Together we will head towards the place where our ice climbing will take place, and as we approach the waterfall, the adrenaline will rise at the mere sight of the imposing ice walls.

Before we start climbing, the guide will give us a theory lesson and explain the ice progression techniques that we will use to practiceice climbing safely. Face to face, we will climb by alternately planting one of the two ice axes in our hands and driving the front tips of our crampons into the ice. After a few rehearsals and securing ourselves with ropes and carabiners, off we go!

The activity lasts 5 hours in total. The route and height difference of the climb may vary depending on the participants' skill level and weather conditions. The mountain guide will make sure to take us on slabs that are thick enough to support our weight and won't let us miss the thrill of the vertical sections.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is at an intermediate level and is open to everyone from 14 years of age. Previous experience in ice climbing is not required, but good physical fitness is required.
