Full description

Discover the world of ice climbing or improve your technique accompanied by an Alpine Guide.Ice climbing, or Ice Climbing, is a truly fascinating activity: it perfectly combines the wild environment, typical of the mountains in the winter season, with climbing technique.

During climbing, we will focus on both safety rope manoeuvres and individual technical progression. We will learn how to tackle an icefall and climb it, to reach the top and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the mountains of Trentino-Alto Adige.

What we will do

We will meet at the meeting point in San Cassiano, in the province of Bolzano, where the distribution and checking of individual equipment will take place.

A short walk will take us to the location where we will climb.

Before the activity begins, we will hold a briefing to explain the safety rules to be adopted during the day.

The style we will adopt for climbing is the Moulinette (or Top Rope), in which the rope to which the climber is harnessed is secured at the top of the route and held at the base by another climbing partner. In this way, the climber is constantly secured in total safety. This is the method typically used by beginners or indoor climbers.

The route will take place on routes of varying difficulty and length depending on the ability of the participants.

Who it is aimed at

Previous climbing experience (including indoor) and practice in Moulinette safety (Top Rope) is preferable for this activity.

Other information

The activity takes place from December to March, weather permitting, and is confirmed with a minimum of 4 participants.

Attention! It is important to arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before the time chosen for the activity.

Individual equipment for ice progression (helmet, harness, ropes, crampons) can be hired on site (by prior arrangement).
