Full description

Would you like to ascend snow-covered slopes on skis, and then launch yourself into a downhill run tracing your own line on fresh snow?

This is ski mountaineering: a perfect combination of adventure and technique. In the company of expert Alpine Guides, you will discover the secrets of an exciting winter sport, amidst the spectacular views of Val di Zoldo and a route that will take you to the summit of Col dei Baldi.

Are you ready to put yourself to the test?

What we will do

The appointment with the Alpine Guide is at 9.30 a.m. at the meeting point in Palafavera (Val di Zoldo). After an introductory briefing of around 20 minutes, during which we will learn the basics of ski mountaineering, theuse of equipment and safety rules (including the functioning of the ARTVA for avalanche search), we will set off on our adventure at around 10.00am.

The ascent will begin gently, giving us time to get familiar with the equipment and the rhythm of the mountain. After about an hour's walk, we will reach Malga Pioda: here the route will become more technical and we will learn how to handle steep and snow-covered sections. We will also do some simulations with the ARTVA and learn more about ascent techniques.

Our goal will be Col dei Baldi, at 1900 metres altitude, which we will reach after about three hours of ascent. Once at the top, we will stop for a well-deserved lunch break (not included), surrounded by a spectacular panorama embracing the snow-capped peaks of the Dolomites.

After lunch, it will be time to prepare for the most enjoyable part of the day: the descent. We will put our skis back on and, depending on the conditions, we will ski down the slopes or on fresh snow, covering about 6 km in a mix of adrenaline and fun.

The return is at 3 p.m. to the starting point, after about 4 hours of experience.

The activity is suitable for ages 15 and over. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
