Full description
The ultimate experience for truffle and wine lovers.
This is what awaits you at Borgo Machiavelli, a few steps from Florence: atruffle hunting experience, followed by a tasting of truffle and wine products. The exploration continues with a visit to the house-museum of Niccolò Machiavelli and the historic wine cellars, ending in the dining room of Italy's oldest restaurant.
Much more than a food and wine experience, a true taste adventure!
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before the selected time at Borgo Machiavelli in Sant'Andrea In Percussina, in the municipality of San Casciano in Val di Pesa (FI). We will be welcomed by the truffle hunter and the truffle dog, who will accompany us on this adventure!
Having gathered all the participants, the experience will begin with a welcome toast, before we head to the estate's private truffle ground. This will be followed by anintroduction to the world of truffles, before the actual hunt begins: Pino, a friendly Lagotto Romagnolo ready to put his sense of smell at our disposal, will lead the way. Once we have spotted the truffle, we will be able to participate directly in the extraction according to the truffle hunter's instructions.
At the end of the truffle hunt, we will continue our exploration of Borgo Machiavelli. We will visit the house-museum of Niccolò Machiavelli, where the writer took refuge in exile; the visit also includes the exclusive opening of the study where he wrote the famous essay "The Prince". We will then move outside for a visit to the Italian-style garden, with a panoramic view of Florence Cathedral. The experience will continue with a visit to the historic cellars, dating back to the 13th century: the first documentation of these 'wine cells' dates back to 1498! We will also pass through an underground passage connecting the cellar to the 'Albergaccio', the oldest Italian restaurant frequented by Machiavelli himself.
It is in the latter that we will sit for a tasting of truffle products and wines. The guide will serve and describe 3 wines : "Libero" Bianco, "Tenuta Machiavelli" Chianti Classico DOCG, "Libero" Super Tuscan IGT (possible variations subject to availability). The toast will be accompanied by a board of truffle products such as truffle puffs, bruschette with truffle oil, salami, Tuscan pecorino cheese and other delicacies.
The experience will last a total of 2 hours.
