Full description

Have you always dreamt of learning Snowkiting? Then this is the right course for you!

We will spend two days of intensive course on Lake Resia in the province of Bolzano, famous for Kitesurfing in summer and perfect for Snowkiting in winter, as soon as the lake freezes over and the snow covers it!

Snowkiting, like kitesurfing, is a safe and practicable sport 'almost every day'. Crowded slopes and long queues at the lifts? Not a problem. With Snowkite it's just you, your kite and big expanses of snow waiting to be traversed.

You will go through theory but above all lots of practice and on the second day you will be completely on skis/board and glider!

What we will do

The course lasts two consecutive days for 3 hours a day starting at 10:00 am. The first day starts with theory and practice without ski/glider handling. On the second day you spend the whole day with ski/board and sail putting everything you have learnt into practice. If you prefer to do two non-consecutive days, remember to notify the instructor after confirmation of your booking!

DAY 1

In the first part of the course you will learn the basics of Snowkiting. Terms and their meaning will be explained. What is a wind window? How to fly the kite and how can I control it? A little bit of physics and a lot of safety. How does the kite behave in the different areas of the window? What sail size should be used in relation to the wind? Which areas are ideal for this sport? Come and discover all this and much more.

In the second part of the test course we will practise using the equipment. This means that a lot of practice will be given with regard to flying in the Snowkite area. We will make you comfortable with glider control, take-off andlanding. We have devised an entire training programme to pilot safely and easily for guaranteed fun.

DAY 2

On the second day, the third phase of the course takes place on skis or a board in the snow. You learn all about piloting safety, safe and independent take-off of the glider, rights of way, turning, etc. An important point is piloting safety.

Using radio helmets, the instructor will give you instructions and tips to correct you, direct you and help you learn without putting pressure on you. You will learn to land the kite in an independent and controlled manner. Those who already have experience with kitesurfing will realise that on the ice and snow it will be all new and different compared to practising on the water! The second day consists of a full training programme so that you can achieve quick results in peace and with ease.

Who it is aimed at

The course is designed for anyone wishing to approach this discipline. A good level of skiing/snowboarding is recommended, but no experience with snowkiting is required.

The course takes place from December to March in groups with a maximum of 4 participants. The technical equipment (trapeze / sail) are provided by the instructor and included in the price.

If you are not in possession of the necessary ski/snowboardequipment, you can hire it from the specialised shops in the resort.
