Full description

An experience for those who are not satisfied with the usual mountain walks, but want to experience nature in a more active way, with an adventurous spirit, a touch of adrenaline and the right amount of challenge!

Via ferratas are the link between trekking and mountaineering, an excellent compromise between relaxation, physical exertion, discovery of nature and fun. These are routes in a rocky environment equipped with ladders, cables, cableways or other natural or artificial handholds that facilitate passage.

"Barba di Fior" is the ideal via ferrata for those who want to approach rock climbing, which can also be practised by children and inexperienced climbers and is a propaedeutic to more complex routes. The splendid scenery of Val di Pejo, in the heart of the Stelvio National Park, will make the experience truly unforgettable!

What we will do

The activity begins in Ossana (TN), where we will meet the mountain guide who will accompany us on the via ferrata. Afterwards, we will drive to the starting point of the excursion and, before setting off, we will have a briefing on the use of the via ferrata kit (provided by the guide and included in the price) and on progression techniques.

The first part will be a simple 20-minute trek that will take us to the rock face on which the aerial route, the via ferrata proper, will take place. We will make our way up the rock metre by metre, cautiously but with great surprise to discover that we are perfectly capable of doing something that we thought was very difficult! The mountain guide, with his attentive gaze and experience from years spent in the mountains, will stay close by to assist, support and encourage us at the most difficult points.

The via ferrata will take us to the 'Barba di Fior' fort, a defensive structure used during the First World War. But the surprises don't end there!

About halfway along the route we will face a 30-metre rope descent. Don't worry, we will be well harnessed and equipped to proceed in total safety. Towards the end, the most adrenalin-pumping moment of the entire route: a 70-metre Tyrolean traverse! This is a crossing over the void by means of special cables on which to slide.

At this point, the thrill will be maximum and, caught up in the excitement, we can decide together with the guide whether to lengthen the route or turn back. For the return trip, you can take the same route back or use a comfortable mule track.

The activity lasts a total of 3½ hours and ends at the starting point.
