Full description
A glass of Chianti, traditional Tuscan dishes and a panoramic view of Florence Cathedral.
These are the ingredients of our food and wine experience in Sant'Andrea In Percussina, in what was once the home of the writer Niccolò Machiavelli. You will visit the house-museum and the historic cellars, before taking a seat in the dining room of Italy's oldest restaurant.
A 2-hour experience, to end the day with a toast!
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before the selected time at Borgo Machiavelli in Sant'Andrea In Percussina, in the municipality of San Casciano in Val di Pesa (FI). We will be welcomed by our guide , who will accompany us on a discovery of this historic winery (and not only)!
Having gathered all the participants, the experience will begin with a guided tour of the house-museum of Niccolò Machiavelli, where the writer took refuge in exile; the visit will also include the exclusive opening of the study where he wrote his famous essay "The Prince". We will then move outside for a visit to the Italian-style garden, with a panoramic view of Florence Cathedral.
The experience will continue with a visit to the historic cellars, dating back to the 13th century: the first documentation of these 'wine cells' dates back to 1498! We will also pass through an underground passage connecting the cellar to the 'Albergaccio', the oldest Italian restaurant frequented by Machiavelli himself.
Finally, we will be seated in the tasting room, set up in the olive grove or in the restaurant depending on the season. The dinner based on Tuscan products and recipes includes salami, bruschetta, homemade potato tortello with knife-beaten beef ragout, main course of the day, cantucci and Vin Santo, and coffee. In the meantime we will toast with 3 wines expertly described by the guide : "Libero" Bianco, "Tenuta Machiavelli" Chianti Classico DOCG, "Libero" Super Tuscan IGT (possible variations subject to availability).
The experience will last a total of 2 hours.
