4x4 buggy tour with bath in the natural hot springs of Segesta and tasting

Discover the charms of western Sicily with a 4x4 buggy tour in the Segesta countryside and be surprised by the history and nature that blend harmoniously in this area.

You will visit the Polle di Crimiso, natural pools of volcanic origin, and enjoy a thermal bath inhot water of up to 43 degrees. Then you will reach a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the magnificent Temple of Segesta, one of the best preserved examples of Hellenic architecture.

As with any excursion in Sicily, there is also room for gastronomic specialities. During the tour, you'll stop to enjoy some fresh seasonal fruit , followed by a taste of pane cunzato and a typical dessert to end on a high note!

What we will do

We’ll meet 15 minutes before 10. 00 am at the meeting point in Segesta (TP), where, after an introductory briefing, we’ll climb aboard the 4x4 buggies, a cross between a quad bike and an off-roader, perfect for navigating countryside, cliffs and dirt tracks.

We’ll set off into the Segesta countryside, stopping at vineyards and orchards to sample the fresh fruit grown in this area: grapes, mulberries, pomegranates, melons and prickly pears, depending on the season. The guides will entertain us with stories, interesting facts and descriptions of the area, which is the subject of various mythological legends.

Such as the legend of the god Krimisòs, who warmed the waters of the River Caldo to allow the nymph Egesta to rest along its banks. It is said that the name ‘Polle di Crimiso’ – the thermal baths of Segesta, natural pools of volcanic origin where the water reaches nearly 47 degrees and where you can bathe freely and at no cost – derives from this legend.

The natural setting of the Polle di Crimiso is marvellous: the thermal pools emerge from the earth amidst rocks, oleanders, reeds, prickly pears and castor oil plants. It really feels as though we are immersed in a mythological scene from Ancient Greece.

After a relaxing dip, we’ll continue our excursion around Calatafimi-Segesta, stopping to enjoy the typical ‘pane cunzato’ and a traditional Sicilian pastry; finally, we’ll reach the unmissable viewpoint overlooking the Temple of Segesta, which stands imposing and isolated amidst the green of the surrounding countryside.

In total, the activity will last around 4 hours and will conclude with our return to the starting point.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is of an easy level and is open to everyone. A B licence is required for drivers, while there is no age limit for passengers. Child seats are available for children up to 3 years of age (service included).

Other information

This activity can be carried out from May to November, weather permitting, and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 buggies. If you wish to carry out the activity with only one buggy, there is an extra charge of €50 (payable locally).

The price is per buggy and includes the hire of the vehicle + the tasting for each passenger.

During the tour, a walking pace will be maintained and it will not be possible to run or carry out manoeuvres not authorised by the guides.
