Fancy a day out in the hills around Bologna? A visit to a winery is always a good idea!
Visit the Virgilio Sandoni Winery in Valsamoggia, near Bologna. Discover the unique characteristics of the local wines and the history of this family-run business.
A tasting of five wines, paired with local produce, will add a unique flavour to your day out!
What we will do
The tour takes place at the selected time at the Virgilio Sandoni Winery in Bersagliera, in the municipality of Valsamoggia, on the lower slopes of the western hills of Bologna .
Here we’ll be welcomed by the winemaker Vittorio, who, together with his father Virgilio, carries on the legacy of the winery, founded over 50 years ago. We’ll get straight to the heart of the experience with a tour of the cellar and a tasting of our first glass of wine.
Whilst we taste the wine, we will be told about the processes and production techniques used by the winery. We will explore the working areas, observing the stainless-steel vats, the autoclaves, the bottling machine and the barrel cellar used for ageing.
The tour will then continue with a tasting of the other four selected wines, which may range from still or sparkling Pignoletto to Barbera Colli Bolognesi, as well as white and red wines from international grape varieties. All this will be accompanied by local cured meats, schiacciata, bread and Parmesan.
The winery does not have a dedicated tasting room, so the tasting will take place directly during the tour of the winery. Weather permitting, and if we’d like to extend the experience, we can ask to be driven about 1. 5 km from the winery for a tour of the vineyards.
The experience will last approximately one and a half hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The wine tasting is for adults only.
Any accompanying minors and non-drinkers may take part in the experience free of charge. As this is a workplace, children must be supervised at all times by a parent or responsible adult.
The venue is accessible to people with mobility difficulties, subject to prior notification. Please note, however, that the toilet is not accessible to disabled people.

The experience runs all year round and is aimed at groups of at least two participants.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
