What if there was a way to mix adrenaline, nature and history, all in 90 minutes of pure excitement? Brace yourself, because our quad bike tour in the Donica Valley is just what you're looking for!
Set off from Abbateggio and enjoy driving a sprightly four-wheeler through the Donica Valley to Piano delle Castagne.
On board your quad bike, you'll admire hilly landscapes, valleys and imposing mountains, but that's not all: you'll take a plunge into the past by visiting picturesque rural villages, mines and prison camps dating back to World War II. So, are you with us?
What we will do
The appointment is 15 minutes before the indicated time at the meeting point in Abbateggio (PE). Upon arrival, we will meet the guide and have a short briefing, in which the operation of the quad bike will be explained to us. Afterwards, we will take a test ride to get familiar with the vehicle.
The adventure begins now! We will set off for Piano delle Castagne, driving along the picturesque paths of the Donica Valley. Gradually ascending along paths and dirt roads, we will admire the hilly landscape, the valleys below down to the sea, and the majestic mountains of the Maiella, Morrone and Gran Sasso.
We will take a journey through history, passing by dry stone structures, low walls and huts, known as 'Pajare' or'Tholoj'. We will then jump ahead to the Second World War by visiting the Acquafredda Prison Camp and the Bitumen Mines. Here we will make two short stops to learn more about their history.
We will then re-board the quad bike for the return journey, but not before making a third and final stop in an agro-pastoral village, where you can hear anecdotes and stories about this fascinating place.
We will cover a total of 16 km, most of it on dirt roads. The total duration of the activity is about one and a half hours.
Who it is aimed at
The tour is suitable for everyone. Drivers must be at least 18 years old and have a B licence.
The minimum age for passengers is 6 years.

The excursion takes place all year round.
The price is per quad. Each quad bike can carry one driver and one passenger (with the possibility of swapping driving). There are 4 quads available for a maximum of 8 participants.
The excursion takes place on roads where the transit of motor vehicles is authorised, in compliance with the Park's rules on environmental protection and conservation. For this reason too, we will ride the quad bike at a low speed. If the Park rules are not respected, the guide has the right to interrupt the activity.
It is advisable to bring your own helmet, if you have one. Otherwise it will be provided by the organisation.
Dogs are not allowed to participate in this activity.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
