Quad adventure in Roccamorice in the Donica Valley

What if there was a way to mix adrenaline, nature and history, all in 90 minutes of pure excitement? Brace yourself, because our quad bike tour in the Donica Valley is just what you're looking for!

Set off from the enchanting village of Roccamorice, famous for the Hermitages of San Bartolomeo and Santo Spirito, and enjoy driving a sprightly four-wheeler through the Donica Valley to Piano delle Castagne.

On board your quad bike, you will admire hilly landscapes, valleys and imposing mountains, but that's not all: you will take a real plunge into the past by visiting suggestive villages from the 1800s, mines and prison camps dating back to World War II.

What we will do

We will meet in Roccamorice (PE ) at the time selected during the booking process. On your arrival, we will hold a short briefing in which you will be explained how the quad bike works. Afterwards, we will take a test ride to get familiar with the vehicle.

The adventure begins now! We will set off for Piano delle Castagne, driving along the picturesque paths of the Donica Valley. Gradually ascending along paths and dirt roads, we will admire the hilly landscape, the valleys below down to the sea, and the majestic mountains of Majella, Morrone and Gran Sasso.

We will take a journey through history, passing by dry stone structures, low walls and huts, known as 'Pajare' or'Tholoj', dating back to 1800. We will then jump ahead to World War II by visiting the Acquafredda Prison Camp and the Bitumen Mines. Here we will make two short stops to learn more about their history.

We will then re-board the quad bike for the return journey. But before returning to Roccamorice, we will make a third and final stop in an agro-pastoral village, where you can hear anecdotes and stories about this fascinating place.

We will cover a total of 16 km, most of it on dirt roads. The total duration of the activity is about one and a half hours.

Who it is aimed at

The tour is suitable for everyone over the age of 6.

To ride the quad bike you must be at least 18 years old and have a B licence.

Other information

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.

The excursion can be booked all year round, weather permitting.

Important: The cost of 75€ is per quad. Each quad bike can carry one driver and one passenger (with the possibility of swapping driving). There are 4 quads available for a maximum of 8 participants.

The excursion takes place on roads where the transit of motor vehicles is authorised, in compliance with the Park's rules on environmental protection and conservation. For this reason too, we will ride the quad bike at a low speed. If the Park rules are not respected, the guide has the right to interrupt the activity.

We recommend that you bring your own helmet, if you have one. If not, it will be provided to you by the organisation.

It is not permitted to ride the quad bike with your dog.
