Full description

Almost lunar landscapes, lush forests and the sea in the distance: this is Etna in all its magnificence!

How best to experience it? Simple, with an adventurous quad bike tour.

Have fun whizzing for 2 hours along ancient paths, entering lava rock quarries and admiring the power of nature that has forged this imposing volcano that dominates Sicily!

What we will do

We will meet about 15 minutes before the start of the tour in Pedara (CT), one of the villages that have sprung up on the slopes of Mount Etna. Here we will meet the guide who will introduce us to this fantastic four-wheeler. It will be an informative briefing in which we will learn how the quad bike works and how to ride it safely.

Then, having donned our helmets, we will climb aboard the quad bike alone or in pairs and set off towardsMount Etna. Following the guide at the head of the group, we will ride into the green of the holm oaks, broom and chestnut trees that characterise this volcano at an altitude of around 1,000 metres.

We will pass through ancient tracks and wooded areas near extinct volcanic cones until we reach a disused lava rock quarry. Equipped with a torch, we will enter the Grotta Cicirello, which according to legend was inhabited by Cyclopes.

After a visit of about 15 minutes, we will re-board the quad bike and proceed to the famous lava flow of 1792. Here we will stop again to listen to the guide tell us the story of this momentous event.

During the stops, we can switch to driving the quad bike (if in possession of a driving licence) before starting the return journey to Pedara. The total route is approximately 15 km, divided equally between dirt and asphalt.

We will return to the meeting point after approximately two hours of hiking.
