Do you like walking? We have found the best adventure companion you could wish for: thealpaca!
Take part in our soft trekking: in the company of a guide, venture into the Maremma countryside together with these cute animals. And get to know them better by taking part in aninteractive experience and an educational workshop on their species and production.
All in this 2½-hour experience, full of cuddles and tenderness!
What we will do
The appointment is at 08:30 at the Sasso D'ombrone (GR) meeting point. To welcome us, we will find the guide who will accompany us on this adventure!
Upon our arrival, a briefing of about 15 minutes will take place, during which we will be explained how to interact with the animal and will be given other useful information for enjoying the experience. It is then that we will meet our trekking companions: the alpacas!
Our trekking with alpacas will then begin: we will take a short country road and then venture into fields and vineyards. We will also enter a forest, alternating flat stretches with quite challenging uphill stretches, but the effort will be repaid by the wonder of the Maremma.
We will then return to the meeting point, where aninteractive experience of about 1.5 hours awaits us: we will enter the enclosure and interact with the alpacas by cuddling them, feeding them and taking souvenir photos! This will be followed by an educational workshop of about 20 minutes during which we will learn more about this animal and be able to touch some very soft alpaca fibre samples.
Thetrek will last about 2 hours, covering 4.5 km with 900 m of altitude difference; the total experience will last 4 hours.
Who it is aimed at
Caution! It is possible to lead alpacas independently from the age of 14. Children aged 10 to 13 can only participate as companions of an adult participant.
The experience is suitable for everyone, but is recommended from the age of 10. Any children from 0 to 9 years of age may participate free of charge: contact the guide at the contact details given in the booking confirmation e-mail to indicate their presence.
The route is not accessible by wheelchair or pushchair.
The route is 4.5 km long and has 900 m of altitude difference: it is therefore recommended for trained people.
Other information
Attention! 10 alpacas are available for this activity. For each adult participant to whom the animal is assigned, there is a maximum of 2 accompanying persons. Participant and adult accompanying person may share the leading of the animal during the excursion; this is only possible for 1 accompanying person as several changes of leading could destabilise the animal.
The experience takes place from September to May and is confirmed on reaching a minimum number of 2 adult participants.
Dogs are not allowed to participate in this activity.
Participants are asked not to wear fluttering clothes as they may frighten the animals.
Any insect repellent should not be sprayed on the palms of the hands as it will feed the animals.
Digital photos taken during the hike will be shared by the guide with participants via Whatsapp.
There is free parking on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.

If you have made a fixed-date booking and the weather conditions are not suitable for safely carrying out the activity (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be fully refunded. The guide may offer you an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to accept or decline these proposals. If you cannot reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund!
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
