That’s right – with this experience in the Alto Monferrato, you can spend a night in a wine barrel, crafted from 19th-century oak and chestnut wood! You’ll sleep in a setting steeped in history and tradition and wake up to a delicious breakfast.

What we will do
The accommodation is located in Rocca Grimalda (AL). Once you arrive at your destination, you can check in from 14: 00 onwards. The property is located in the Alto Monferrato, an area of rare beauty, dotted with hills, vineyards, wineries and characteristic villages. The historic centre of Rocca Grimalda, in particular, is famous for the Museum of the Mask and because it hosts the Lachera, one of the oldest popular carnivals.
The accommodation you will spend the night in is a barrel made from the chestnut and oak wood of 19th-century barrels, reused so as not to let these creations of the master coopers of the time go to waste. Together, they create a small flat, complete with a double bedroom, bathroom with shower and a veranda.
The room is small but comfortable and will make you feel immediately at ease, regardless of the weather or the season, as it is equipped with running water, electricity and heating. Should you wish to buy something for dinner and eat it on site, you can go to the standard room (included) that will be provided for you, a short distance from the barrel. There you will find a table to dine on and a more spacious bathroom, should you need it.
Finally, after a dreamy night inside the barrel, you will go to a nearby room for breakfast (included) . This will be sweet or savoury (on request) and will include yoghurt, fruit juice, cereals and cakes or sliced meats, cheese, toast and eggs.
After this pleasant awakening, you can check out by 10: 30 a. m. and set off on your next adventure!
Who it is aimed at
Accommodation is available to guests aged 18 or over. In the case of a couple with a young child (who may sleep in the double bed with their parents) , there is an additional charge of 10 euros for breakfast, to be paid on arrival. Please inform the host in advance of any children staying with you using the contact details provided in the booking confirmation email.
The property is not accessible to wheelchair users or those with walking difficulties.
Other information
Stays in the barrel are available all year round, even in bad weather. Check-in is from 2. 00 pm and check-out must be by 10. 30 am at the latest.
The barrel features a double bedroom, a veranda and a bathroom with a shower. It also has hot water and electricity. The accommodation is provided with towels and bed linen and can accommodate up to 2 people.
In winter, the property is heated by a convector heater and a thermal blanket is provided for guests. Furthermore, the host will make a standard room available should you wish to use a more spacious bathroom or enjoy food or drinks purchased at a table.
The price includes a sweet breakfast. If you request a savoury breakfast in advance via the contact details provided in your booking confirmation email, this can be arranged. In the event of any allergies or intolerances, you can request an alternative via the same contact details.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport, but there is free parking on site.
Dogs are not permitted.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
