The answer, this time, will not be given by the sommelier but. .. by you! Test your senses with a blind tasting of 5 Monferrato wines.
An original food and wine experience that you can enjoy at Cantine Merlone, in Cossombrato!
What we will do
The appointment is at Cantine Merlone in Cossombrato in the province of Asti, in the heart of the Monferrato hills. We will be welcomed by our guide, ready to accompany us on a discovery of wine and the traditions of the area.
We will begin with a visit to the winemaking areas, where we will discover how red and white grapes are transformed into wine, from pressing to fermentation. During the tour we will also learn about the evolution of the cellar, from historical equipment to modern steel tanks.
We will continue in the impressive 19th-century ageing cellar, among barriques and tonneaux, to understand how the wine rests and develops its aromas over time. We will also visit the ancient ice cellar where the bottles of Metodo Classico Alta Langa are kept.
At the end of the visit, we will move to the tasting room or to the panoramic terrace on a clear day. Here we will experience a special blind tasting, designed to test the senses in an engaging way.
The experience will begin with an olfactory game of spices and scents, followed by the tasting of five different wines from the region served in black goblets and covered bottles. We will taste labels such as Freisa, Barbera d'Asti Superiore and Nebbiolo, accompanied by breadsticks, focaccia, cold meats and local cheeses, but the best part will be trying to guess what we are sipping!
The experience will last about 1½ hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is recommended for 18 years and over. Wine tasting is reserved for adults only.
Any accompanying under-age persons may participate in the experience at a reduced rate based on consumption to be paid on site.
The facility is wheelchair-accessible with the exception of the ancient icebox.

The experience takes place all year round and is confirmed on reaching a minimum number of 3 participants.
Dogs are allowed in the outdoor areas and the tasting room, while they are not allowed when visiting the indoor production areas.
Free parking is available on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport, although arrival by car is recommended.
