Sailing through “Little Venice”: yes, on a boat all to yourself!
With this boat hire in Chioggia, you can experience the magic of the Venetian lagoon by becoming captain for a day. You’ll set sail aboard a 5. 70-metre open boat with a 40 CV engine, which can accommodate up to 6 people and can be driven without a boat licence.
You’ll have a whole day to set sail for Venice, Pellestrina or another charming destination in the surrounding area. You’re at the helm!
What we will do
Please arrive 15 minutes before 10. 00 at the meeting point in Chioggia (VE).
Before setting sail, you’ll complete the registration formalities and receive a nautical chart with details of possible routes to follow. The hire staff will hand over the boat to you, explaining everything you need to know about operating it and the rules for safe sailing. If you don’t feel entirely confident at the helm, the staff will be happy to accompany you on a short trial run.
You’ll have access to an open boat measuring 5. 70 metres by 2. 10 metres, which can be operated without a boating licence and is perfect for carrying up to 6 passengers. The boat is fitted with a sun awning, cushions and a handheld shower for rinsing off.
From Chioggia – the secret gateway to the Venice Lagoon – you can chart your own course in complete freedom: head as far as the Serenissima, explore the picturesque villages of Pellestrina or take a dip in the waters off the Alberoni dunes.
You must return the boat to the meeting point by 5. 00 pm, for a total hire period of 7 hours.
Who it is aimed at
You don’t need a boat licence to drive the boat ; you just need to be over 18.
Passengers of all ages are welcome on board.
The boat is not wheelchair accessible.
Other information
The experience is available from March to October and is aimed at private groups of up to 6 people.
Please note: fuel is not included in the basic hire fee. Before setting sail, you will be asked to provide a cash deposit for petrol (approximately €70 to fill the tank and cover the return journey to Venice) ; on your return, the staff will check the actual fuel level and you will pay only for the amount consumed.
Upon collection, you will be required to present a valid ID and pay a security deposit of €1, 000 by card.
Dogs are allowed on board, provided the organisers are notified in advance.
The meeting point is accessible by public transport; there is a pay-and-display car park on site.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
