Did you know there’s a cave that can ‘light up’ your body underwater ? It’s not magic, but one of the secrets of the Costa degli Dei!
Set sail on an exciting 3½-hour boat trip to explore Calabria’s most fascinating sea caves.
Accompanied by a skipper, you’ll sail from Tropea to Capo Vaticano, visiting the Grotta della Sibilla and the Grotta del Palombaro. To round off this magical day, enjoy a delicious aperitif on board!
What we will do
We’ll meet 15 minutes before departure at the meeting point in Tropea (VV). The skipper who will be taking us on our excursion will be waiting for us there.
The tour will focus on the sea caves of the Costa degli Dei, with stops of around 45 minutes at each location. We’ll visit the Grotta del Palombaro, situated behind the rock of Santa Maria dell’Isola and featuring an inner beach of very fine sand. We’ll continue on to the Grotta Bianca (or Grotta dello Scheletro) , where we’ll take a dip to observe the unique play of light that illuminates our bodies as we’re submerged in the water.
Sailing towards Capo Vaticano, we’ll reach the Grotta della Sibilla, linked to the myth of the prophetess who foretold the future to Ulysses. Immediately afterwards, we’ll visit the Grotta degli Ziti, once a secluded retreat for couples in love. During our stops, the skipper will recount local myths and take us into the water at some of the caves for a spot of snorkelling.
We’ll round off the excursion with a stop at the Baia Blu di Grotticelle for an aperitif on board, featuring cheese, crostini, taralli, fresh fruit, white wine, prosecco, juices and tea. We’ll return after three and a half hours.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is open to children aged 3 and over. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
This experience is not recommended for women in the late stages of pregnancy.
The boat is not wheelchair accessible. Passengers with reduced mobility (not using a wheelchair) may be assisted whilst boarding, provided they give advance notice.

The activity takes place from June to September and is confirmed provided there is a minimum of 5 participants.
The itinerary and stops may vary depending on weather and sea conditions.
The vessel used is a luxury, sporty motorboat, 7. 5 metres long and fitted with a sun awning, non-slip teak decking, a sun deck at the bow, a refrigerated cockpit, tables, a fresh-water shower, a stern platform, a boarding ladder and music. Shoes must be removed whilst on board.

Dogs are not permitted on board.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
