Delve into the belly of the mountain and discover the secrets of the Monte Cucco Cave with a speleo-trekking route together with experienced and qualified guides.
In the heart ofUmbria, inside the Monte Cucco natural park, you will have the opportunity to set off on a journey into the depths of the earth, among karstic caves, stalactites, stalagmites and channels dug by underground streams.
Anactivity suitable for everyone to observe nature from a new perspective and enjoy the unexpected wonders that our land is always ready to offer.
What we will do
The meeting point is in Sigillo (PG), in the locality of Pian di Monte, at an altitude of about 1,200 metres. There we will meet the caving guides and the rest of the group, and all together we will set out on the path that leads to the east entrance of the Grotta di Monte Cucco, at an altitude of 1,390 metres (it will take about an hour's walk).
Access to the cave is through the Miliani Well, 27 metres deep, equipped with a metal ladder. We will explore the cave via an internal earth path, stairs and steel footbridges. We will walk along channels carved over millennia by underground streams among stalactites and stalagmites that create a ghostly and fascinating atmosphere.
We will pass through the Cathedral, the Sala Margherita and the Sala del Becco (as the cave spaces are called) and then return back following the same route. The activity will last a total of three hours, including 45 minutes inside the cave.

This activity is at an easy level and is suitable for everyone from 8 years old and up.
Other information
This activity can be carried out from April to November.
If the number of participants exceeds 20, the visit will be conducted in small groups of 20 people who will leave at a short distance from each other, each accompanied by a speleological guide.
