Full description
For mountain bike lovers, here is an excursion not to be missed in the heart of Garfagnana, between the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the splendid Apuan Alps.
With this 7-hour MTB tour with pedal-assist, you can venture out to discover evocative landscapes, pedalling along dirt roads and mountain paths with a guide.
Among the stages you will admire numerous villages such as Barga, a pretty village included in the list of the "most beautiful villages in Italy", and you will cross the Serchio river and then ascend through scenic hills and perched villages. You can recharge your batteries with a stop in a typical local restaurant for lunch!
What we will do
We will meet at 9: 00 a. m. in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. After handing over the bikes and a briefing on pedal-assisted MTBs, we will set off immediately accompanied by our hiking guide.
From the start, our route will run for about 3 km along the only stretch of main road, after which we will arrive at a fork in the road, where we will enter rural paths, small traditional hamlets and enjoy splendid views of the landscape and mountains of the Apuan Alps.
Among mule tracks and forest paths, we will fully enjoy the naturalistic spirit of our excursion to reach Barga. With its cathedral at the top of the town and its small streets with picturesque views, Barga is on the list of the 'most beautiful villages in Italy': an appellation it fully deserves. Here we can choose the most suitable place for lunch (not included), or have a packed meal (to be brought from home) on the village's most scenic hilltop.
We will then head towards the Serchio river, which we will cross near the village of Gallicano, to reach other small villages. The last part of the itinerary will be downhill among ancient mule tracks and chestnut woods, along the ancient Via del Volto Santo. In total, the route will cover about 50 km.
The total duration of the hike will be about 7 hours and ends with the return to the starting point.
Who it is aimed at
The excursion is intended for cyclists with good riding skills.
Minors aged 14 and under may also participate, accompanied by a parent or another adult (with signed parental release).
Other information
The excursion is available all year round on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and is confirmed with a minimum of four participants.
The lunch break can also be organised as a packed lunch if participants do not want a typical restaurant. The cost of lunch will be borne by the participants, to be paid on site.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
