Full description
For mountain bike lovers, here is an excursion not to be missed in the heart of theTuscan-Emilian Apennines.
With this 7-hour MTB tour with pedal-assisted pedalling, you can venture out to discover evocative landscapes, pedalling along dirt roads and mountain paths with a guide.
Among the stops you will admire Barga, a pretty village included in the list of the 'most beautiful villages in Italy', and cross the Serchio river near Gallicano.
Finally, you can recharge your batteries with a stop at an organic farm: you will toast to the finish line by tasting typical products and excellent wines produced using bio-dynamic methods.
What we will do
We will meet at 08:30 in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. After handing over the bikes and a briefing on pedal-assisted MTBs, we will set off immediately accompanied by our hiking guide.
From the start, our route will run for about 3 km along the only stretch of main road, after which we will arrive at a crossroads that will allow us to leave the busy areas behind and enter rural paths, small traditional hamlets and enjoy splendid views of the surrounding landscape and mountains.
Amid mule tracks and forest paths, we will be able to fully savour the naturalistic spirit of our hike to reach Barga. With its cathedral at the top of the town and its small streets with picturesque views, Barga is on the list of the 'most beautiful villages in Italy': an appellation it fully deserves.
From here we will head towards the Serchio river, which we will cross near the village of Gallicano, to reach the organic farm where Gabriele, an expert oenologist, will introduce us to his bio-dynamic wines.
The tasting (not included, to be paid for on site) includes 4 glasses of bio-dynamic wines, a selection of typical products and a plate of pasta with tomato sauce or lasagne. Between a bite to eat and a sip of wine, a visit to the farm and the winery, we can recharge our batteries (and those of our MTBs too).
At the end of the tasting, we will get back in the saddle for the last stage of the itinerary, which will take us downhill along ancient mule tracks and chestnut woods.
The total duration of the excursion will be 7 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The excursion is intended for cyclists with good riding skills.
Minors aged 14 and under may also participate, accompanied by a parent or another adult (with signed parental release).
Other information
The excursion is available all year round on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and is confirmed with a minimum of 4 participants.
The tasting costs €35 per person, payable locally. It includes 4 glasses of wine, a selection of typical products and a plate of pasta with tomato sauce or lasagne. Please inform the organisers at the contact details received in the booking confirmation of any allergies and/or intolerances.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
