Do you know why the Riviera of the Cyclops is called that?
According to legend, it was there that Polyphemus hurled enormous boulders into the sea to prevent Ulysses' escape. Those boulders are the Faraglioni of Aci Trezza, black and majestic like the lava from which they rise. And it is from here that our rubber dinghy tour along the Catania coast starts!
A 3-hour excursion amidst millenary stories and refreshing dips, with toasts on board and a skipper who will guide you to discover one of the most splendid stretches of coastline in eastern Sicily.
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before the indicated time at the meeting point in Aci Trezza (CT).
We will be welcomed by the skipper, ready to set sail with us on board a comfortable dinghy.
We will sail south along the Riviera dei Ciclopi, passing places rich in charm and legends. Right at Aci Trezza we will admire the iconic Faraglioni dei Ciclopi, which according to myth were thrown into the sea by Polyphemus, blinded by the hero Ulysses.
We will then reach Aci Castello, dominated by its Norman Castle, which stands on a black basalt cliff overlooking the sea. After a passage in front of some sea caves, we will sail past the seaside village of Ognina, an elegant residential area overlooking a lively harbour.
During the navigation, a toast with prosecco and chips will be served. On the way back, we will stop for a swim in the Marine Protected Area, where we can swim and snorkel thanks to the masks provided.
We will conclude the experience by returning to our starting point. The activity will last a total of 3 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone, with no age limit; children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The boat is not accessible for wheelchair users or persons with reduced mobility.

The activity takes place from May to October and is confirmed with a minimum number of 4 participants.
Theitinerary and stops may vary depending on weather and sea conditions.
The boat used is an 8-metre dinghy, with awning, shower, climbing ladder, sundeck, stereo and USB port. You stay barefoot on board.
In case of food allergies or intolerances, alternatives are not guaranteed. It is possible to add a reinforced aperitif at a cost of €20 (meat aperitif) or €35 (fish aperitif) per person: to request this, please contact the organisers at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email.
Small dogs are allowed on board.
The meeting point can be reached by public transport. There are free and paid parking spaces near the harbour. A transfer service is also available for up to 9 people (with supplement depending on distance) between Catania and Messina: to request this, please contact the organisers after the booking confirmation email.
