Full description
Feel like going beyond simple exploration and really learning how to dive?
This SSI Basic Diver course in Otranto is the perfect springboard: two dives, a dedicated instructor and a real taste of the underwater world.
In 4 hours, concentrated in one afternoon or spread over two days, you will tackle the basics of diving with the enthusiasm of someone preparing for something big.
In the meantime... get ready to go down!
What we will do
The appointment is at 14:30 at the meeting point in Otranto (LE). We will be welcomed by thediving instructor, who will guide us from the briefing on land in an area equipped with all the equipment ready.
After familiarising ourselves with the basics, we will move on foot (about 100 metres) to board the dinghy.
The course programme includes two dives: the first dive, in confined water (up to 5 metres), will last about 40 minutes and is designed to familiarise you with the equipment and movements underwater.
After a break on board to change tanks, we will tackle the second dive, in open water up to 12 metres, where we will practise the skills we have acquired and explore the seabed populated by posidonia and Mediterranean fauna.
In small groups of up to 2 participants per instructor, we will experience the underwater world in total safety and freedom.
The total duration of the activity is approximately 4 hours, to be carried out on the same afternoon or divided into two consecutive days.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable from the age of 8; children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult on the dinghy.
The activity is aimed at those wishing to approach scuba diving for the first time and learn the safety rules, use of equipment and basic scuba diving skills in shallow water. A licence is not required to participate.
A medical certificate is required in case of pulmonary problems, heart problems, epilepsy and diabetes.
Other information
The experience takes place from May to October.
Attention! The duration of the activity may vary depending on the number of participants.
If you decide to enrol on the SSI Open Water Diving course within six months of completing the Basic Diver programme, your first open water dive will be credited as one of the required training dives.
The activity can be carried out on board a 7.40 m dinghy powered by a Mercury 200 hp motor or a 10 m dinghy with two Mercury 200 hp motors depending on availability.
There is free parking on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.
