Pedal, breathe and experience unique emotions in an authentic territory! In the lands of L'Aquila Saffron PDO, known as thered gold of Abruzzo, an e-bike tour rich in traditions and beautiful landscapes awaits you.
The route offers suggestive views and is ideal for those seeking an experience of tranquillity, nature and discovery of the territory.
Amidst picturesque villages, cultivated fields and ancient transhumance routes, our expert guides will help you discover the pastoral traditions and small art jewels enclosed in this corner of Abruzzo, such as the tratturale church of S. Maria dei Centurelli.
What we will do
We will meet at 9:00 a.m. in Capestrano (AQ), at Capodacqua. We will get acquainted with the guides, who will hand over the e-bikes and conduct an introductory briefing. Afterwards, we will set off on our excursion to the L'Aquila saffron DOP lands.
Pedalling on a mixed track, from the extensive Navelli plain we will climb to Civitaretenga, and then pass through Caporciano to the village of Bominaco. Here we will visit theOratory of S. Pellegrino, known as the Sistine Chapel of Abruzzo.
We will discover these fascinating places immersed in the silence of nature. All around, our gaze will sweep over the Abruzzo mountains and saffron fields, cultivated or in bloom, depending on the season.
Around 12.30/13.00, we will stop at a local agriturismo for a lunch of typical Abruzzo products (included). After the tasty stop, we will head back down the valley to the village of Capestrano, where we will stop for a short visit to the Piccolomini Castle and then back down to Capodacqua to return to our headquarters.
Along the way, guides will provide us with information and insights into the nature, culture and traditions of the place. The route will be about 25 km long with 300 metres of altitude difference. The assisted pedalling with which the e-bikes are equipped makes the activity suitable even for those who are not particularly well trained.
The experience will last a total of 3½ hours, including stops and a guided tour.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is of medium-easy level. Aheight of at least 150 cm, a maximum weight of 100kg and a minimal predisposition to physical activity are required.

Attention! Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the departure time.
This activity can be carried out from June to September, weather permitting, and is confirmed when there are at least 3 participants.
A large car park, toilets, bar and refreshment area are available at the starting point in Capodacqua.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
