Full description
It’s called the ‘Horn of Fear’. But don’t worry: the only thing frightening about it is the view.
Join a 3½-hour e-bike tour along the trails of Monte Baldo, following a guide through pastures, beech woods and ancient mule tracks dating back to the Great War.
Amidst military outposts, tunnels carved into the rock and panoramic views stretching from the Adige Valley to the Brenta Dolomites, you’ll discover that the name can be misleading. The view, however, is anything but.
What we will do
We’ll meet at 9. 30 am at the meeting point in Polsa, a village in the municipality of Brentonico (TN). Here we’ll meet our guide and be given the e-bikes and helmets provided for the excursion. Before setting off, the guide will explain the controls and how the e-bike works , and we’ll have the chance to familiarise ourselves with the bike.
We’ll then start cycling at an altitude of around 1, 200 metres, tackling a route with a moderate elevation gain that the guide can adapt to the group’s ability. We’ll alternate between tarmac sections, unpaved forest tracks and mule tracks, passing through pastures, beech woods and meadows until we reach the Corno della Paura area.
We’ll cycle along the trails of the Great War, encountering ancient mule tracks, Austro-Hungarian military posts and tunnels carved into the rock by the Royal Italian Army along the way. The guide will recount the events that took place in these mountains in the early 20th century, along with anecdotes and interesting facts about the places we pass through.
Between one stretch of cycling and the next, we’ll also look up: we may spot the area’s typical wildlife, such as marmots, chamois, roe deer and birds of prey. We’ll be treated to stunning views of the Adige Valley and the surrounding mountains; on the clearest days , the view stretches as far as the Brenta Dolomites, the Athesian Alps and the Emilian Apennines.
At the end of the route, we’ll return to the starting point. On request, it’s possible to arrange a lunch break with the guide at the end of the excursion, with food and drink not included in the price.
The experience will last a total of around three and a half hours.
