Full description
The Lunigiana territory is full of surprises, discover them all on a pleasant e-bike tour. You will visit suggestive medieval villages, ride through forests and rural areas of fascinating beauty, and as a reward, you will be able to taste wines and typical products at agritourisms and historic inns.
You will cycle through history and nature in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park and the UNESCO MAB Reserve, sites of great cultural and natural value. Accompanying you will be a local guide, who will take you on a discovery of truly unmissable places.
This activity is suitable for everyone, even those who are not particularly fit. Pedal-assisted bicycles, in fact, allow you to tackle uphill stretches with ease, enabling anyone to enjoy a relaxing day of cycling with itineraries of 30 to 50 km.
What we will do
We will meet at 9:30 a.m. in Filattiera, in the province of Massa Carrara. The first leg of the ride will take us into the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park. From there we will ride along a stretch of the famous Via Francigena, a destination for tourists from all over the world. Along the route, we will find numerous points of historical interest, including the Pievi, Romanesque buildings that served as places of worship and refreshment for pilgrims on their way.
We will admire the Parish Church of Santo Stefano, the Castle of Malgrate with its tower dominating the valley, and then continue on through the characteristic medieval villages of the Bagnone and Teverone valleys. We will have time to stop and admire the landscape, take photos and breathe in the pure air of these genuine places.
For lunch we will stop at one of the many agritourisms in the area to enjoy local wine and zero-km products (15€ to be paid locally). In the afternoon we will take the return route and once again have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beautiful views of the Apennines.
The route has a total length of 35 km. The return to Filattiera is scheduled for 16.30.
