Full description
Climb into the saddle of an e-bike and set off to discover Portoferraio on the Island of Elba.
The route, a total of 35 km, starts at the Schiopparello Beach and will take you to the top of Monte Orello. After this first stretch you will make a short stop at a characteristic bar perched on a cliff overlooking the sea.
You will then reach Capo Stella, from where you will enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Portoferraio. Pedalling, you will skirt the sand dunes of Lacona beach as far as Monte Tambone to enjoy the view of the gulf from above, and you will ride along a last stretch that alternates between valleys and woods.
What we will do
We will meet with the guide at Schiopparello, inside the bay of Portoferraio. After putting on our helmets and getting on our electric bikes, we will set off to discover Portoferraio.
We will ride along the first stretch of asphalt road, 500 metres long, and then head towards Le Picchiaie. From this point, we will follow a dirt road uphill to the summit of Monte Orello. We will then climb up to 337 metres above sea level and admire the remains of several military forts along the way.
We then pedal along a beautiful panoramic dirt road to La Coda. The road alternates between downhill and flat stretches and is very pleasant. At this point on the route we will make a short stop at a bar located on a cliff overlooking the sea. We will thus have a chance to rest a while in a very beautiful and characteristic place.
Once the stop is over, we will get back on our bikes and head for Capo Stella, from where we will admire one of the most evocative views of the entire island. Stretching our gaze, in fact, we will catch sight of the islets of Montecristo and the island of Pianosa.
The route continues along the Via della Calce (Lime Road), which owes its name to the small lime mines typical of this part of the island. Still on the bike, we will ride along the Lacona Beach, famous for its sand dunes and the sea lily that blooms spontaneously along the shoreline.
Once past Lacona, we will head towards Monte Tambone, from where we can admire the view of the entire gulf. Finally, we will continue for another 2 km along the path leading to the so-called 'Buco di bomba'. The last route alternates between a valley and a forest until the starting point.
The route is 35 km long and the hike lasts 4 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is of medium difficulty. A minimum age of 9 years and a certain degree of cycling ability are required.
Other information
The excursion is possible all year round.
In high season (June, July and August), the maximum number of participants is 15, and in low season it is 7.
