Full description
Let’s face it: no bike ride is a waste of time if there’s some good food waiting for you at the end!
We’ll take you by e-bike from Palermo to Piana degli Albanesi on a 6-hour private tour taking in Monreale Cathedral, the old railway line and the lake shores.
The grand finale? A light lunch and the king of Sicilian desserts: the cannolo.
What we will do
Please arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled time at the meeting point in Palermo (PA), where the guide will welcome you. After an initial briefing, you’ll hop on your e-bike and set off on the tour.
The first 10 km will take you to Monreale, where you’ll stop to explore the splendid Arab-Norman Cathedral and its Benedictine cloister at your own pace. From here, you’ll get back on your bike to follow a scenic route carved out of an old disused railway line. The gentle gradient will make the climb easy and enjoyable as you head up towards Piana degli Albanesi, treating you to unique views of the Conca d’Oro Valley.
Once you arrive at your destination, a mouth-watering break awaits: you’ll stop at a charming deli with outdoor seating for a tasty light lunch featuring a platter of local cold cuts and cheeses. To round off your lunch, there’ll be a live demonstration by a master pastry chef, who’ll fill a Sicilian cannolo right before your eyes.
With your batteries recharged, you’ll set off again on two wheels to cycle along the shores of Lake Piana degli Albanesi, set in a truly picturesque natural setting. You’ll then begin the scenic descent that will take you back towards Palermo, passing through the historic centre.
The activity will last a total of around 6 hours, covering a total distance of 65 km.
