Full description
The Cycle Route of Memory, in Cassino, passes through places that marked the history of the 20th century: roads, hills and villages that were the scene of some of the toughest battles of the Second World War. Today they are silent and green. And perfect for exploring by e-bike.
Join us for a guided tour of about 4 hours, where cycling becomes a way of reading the landscape, interweaving nature, archaeology and recent history.
What we will do
The appointment is at 9 a. m. in Cassino, in the province of Frosinone. After the welcome, the guide will offer us a welcome drink and carry out an initial briefing, explaining the itinerary, how the e-bikes work, and the historical context that will be the leitmotif of the experience. Then it's off!
In the saddle of our front e-bikes, we will start pedalling, leaving the city centre behind us to ride along the rear of the Gustav Line, the scene of some of the bloodiest fighting in the spring of 1944. The ride takes off immediately: after about 3 km uphill we will reach Rocca Janula, an ancient defensive structure halfway up the hillside, with a privileged view of the entire valley.
We will then reach the area of the Montecassino complex: the visit can be deepened for those who so wish, with a tour of the brewery and tasting of the abbey's beer at the Tenuta Albaneta, or experienced as a scenic passage, always accompanied by the guide's stories.
The ride continues until we reach strategic points between 575 and 593 metres above sea level, once German defensive bastions. From here we will take a panoramic dirt road that will gradually lead us back to the valley, amidst open views and stories that help us read the landscape with different eyes.
The total distance is about 30 km, with a leisurely pace and numerous stops. The return to the starting point is scheduled for around 1 p. m., for a total duration of around 4 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is at an easy level and open to all, aged 14 years and over and with a height of at least 150 cm. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
The assisted pedalling with which the e-bikes are equipped makes the excursion suitable even for those who are not particularly well trained.
The activity is not recommended for pregnant women.

The activity takes place from April to October and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants.
The itinerary may vary depending on weather conditions, preferences and the level of the group; the guide will assess the best route to ensure safety and quality of the experience.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund!
