Full description
In Poppi, in the heart of theTuscan hinterland, there is a place where the atmosphere seems to have stopped in the Middle Ages.
In the shadow of castles and forests, a valley opens up where you can admire eagles, falcons and other incredible birds of prey soaring through the sky and call them to you like a true falconer!
It will take you 1.5 hours to discover the fascinating world of falconry in the company of a qualified bird trainer!
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before 15:00 at the meeting point near Poppi (AR). Awaiting us will be the falconer (or bird keeper) who will be our point of reference throughout the activity.
Our experience will begin with a theoretical explanation on the characteristics of birds of prey and the correct approach to have towards them. This part will last about 30 minutes. If we are lucky, we will also have the opportunity to observe different birds such as crows, storks, caracara and many others at close range, within the premises of our falconer (not guaranteed as the location of the activity may vary).
Once the theoretical part is over, it will be time to get out our binoculars! In fact, we will have the opportunity to admire as many as 5 species of trained birds of prey in free flight , specifically: falcons, eagles, vultures, buzzards and owls. After the demonstration, we will move on to the most exciting part of this experience: the'baptism of the glove'! During this phase we will be able to call a bird of prey to our fist wearing a falconer's glove.
Themedieval atmosphere of the Casentino Forest Park, dotted with castles and unspoilt valleys, will make you feel like a real falconer for a day!
The experience will last one and a half hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for ages 10 and up; minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Any accompanying persons may participate in the experience at the reduced price of €50 , which includes free flight observation but not interaction with the bird of prey.
The activity venue is not wheelchair accessible.
Other information
The activity takes place throughout the year and will be confirmed when there are at least 4 participants.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport. The location may vary depending on weather conditions and will be communicated 2-3 days before the start of the activity by the falconer.
Dogs are not allowed during the experience.

The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund!
