Falconer for a day in the province of Pistoia

I challenge you to observe the flight of a bird of prey and not be fascinated by it! Impossible, right?

If birds of prey intrigue you too, become a falconer for a day with this activity in the province of Pistoia!

Spend two and a half hours in their company, learn a few curiosities and try to call them to the glove like a real falconer! If you wish, you can also enjoy a delicious picnic by selecting the appropriate option when booking.

What we will do

We will meet at the meeting point in Pieve a Nievole (PT), where the falconer will be waiting for us and will guide us through the experience. After an initial welcoming moment, we will listen to him for about an hour as he introduces us to the world of falconry, telling us many facts about birds of prey and giving us the notions necessary to carry out the activity in the best possible way.

Immediately afterwards, we will get to know the nocturnal and diurnal birds of prey that will accompany us. These are hawks and buzzards with a nice name and elegant appearance, which we will see flying during a demonstration given by our falconer. This moment will last about an hour and will serve to familiarise us with the beautiful Gea, Lady, Ombra, Sky and the other birds of prey before actual interaction.

Then, the falconer will provide us with a special glove (included) and teach us how to hold the birds of prey on the glove and call them to the fist, and we will have about 30 minutes to familiarise ourselves with doing so before greeting our new friends.

In the spring months, we can also ask the falconer to show us the breeding nursery , where the falcons are growing and the eggs are about to hatch.

The experience will last a total of two and a half hours and, if we choose the"with picnic" option when booking, we will be able to end it with a feast of focaccia, cold meats and drinks.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable from 5 years old. Children aged 5 to 8 years participate free of charge. Children under 18 can only participate if accompanied by a responsible adult.

The activity is available all year round and will be confirmed upon reaching a minimum of 2 paying participants.

The meeting point may vary depending on weather conditions and may be about 30 minutes away from the location in Pieve a Nievole, in the province of Lucca, in the province of Pistoia. In both cases, the meeting point cannot be reached by public transport, but free parking is available nearby.
