Visiting a city of art? We recommend a trip to Empoli, to discover theart of falconry!
A professional falconer will be waiting for you here, ready to pass on all his knowledge and passion. Thanks to his teachings, you will not only learn the theory of falconry but you will also be able to put what you have learnt into practice by interacting with birds of prey.
A 4-hour experience, at the end of which you will experience the unique thrill of calling a bird to the fist!
What we will do
I will be waiting for you 10 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Empoli (FI), at Molin Nuovo. Welcoming you on your arrival will be me, a falconer who will accompany you on this adventure!
The experience will take place outdoors, and you will be seated under an open gallery. Here the theoretical part will take place, during which I will provide you with basic information on falconry and notions of the biology of animals, which will be the real protagonists of the day. In fact, I will not fail to introduce you to my birds of prey: Harris's falcon, spectacled owl, barn owl, caracara, sub-Arctic Virginian eagle owl and other specimens that you will have the pleasure of meeting.
This will be followed by the practical part of the experience, during which I will teach you how to use falconry accessories and demonstrate how to tie a falconer's knot. We will then reach the aviary to release the birds of prey: you will be able to get close and familiar with them, right up to putting on your falconer's glove and trying to call a bird to your fist! I will always be by your side, guaranteeing safety and fun for the entire duration of the activity.
The theoretical part will last 1 ½ hours, the practical part will last 1 hour and the encounter with birds of prey will last 1 ½ hours. The experience will last a total of 4 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for ages 7 and up; children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (who may not actively participate in the experience).
The venue is wheelchair-accessible.
Other information
The experience is available from January to December.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the experience.
