Take part in a unique experience that will allow you to get in touch with the fantastic world of birds of prey in the Veio Park, in the province of Rome.
An expert will explain the history of falconry and show you the fundamental techniques for calling birds of prey to your arm. You will get to know eagles, hawks, buzzards, barn owls, owls and many other inhabitants of the sky "at close range".

What we will do
We will meet at 9 a.m. in Formello, in the province of Rome, at the point indicated in the booking confirmation.
During the first phase of the experience, the falconer will explain how the activity will take place and tell us the history of this discipline. At one time, falconry was used to train birds of prey to hunt, whereas today it consists mainly of the study of communication with these beautiful birds.
We will then walk into the woods of the La Selvotta Nature Park together with a very good and tame buzzard and learn how to call birds of prey on our arm , listening to the instructions of the falconer who will accompany us.
During the walk through the forest, we will discover the flora and fauna that inhabit it. In this beautiful natural setting, we will witness a free flight demonstration of a Harris's buzzard and be able to call it back to the glove.
This will be followed by a close encounter with several specimens and, together with the master falconer, we will learn how to distinguish between them and get to know their behaviour and biological aspects. We will continue with flight demonstrations of numerous specimens, nocturnal and diurnal, from owls to falcons, from eagles to vultures.
At the end of the experience, you will also experience the thrill of calling aWhite-headed Sea Eagle to your glove!
The total duration will be about 4 hours.

The activity is suitable for everyone from 6 years of age.
Minors must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Other information
The activity takes place every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from November to March, and is confirmed when there are at least 4 participants.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport. Parking and toilets are available at the centre.
Dogs are not allowed.

The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals.
