Full description
Tackle Europe's longest freeride descent, starting in Courmayeur and finishing in Chamonix: a total of 20 km of fresh snow skiing.
This itinerary, known as Vallée Blanche or Mer de Glace, is a classic for off-piste lovers, a must if you love the thrill of speed on skis or snowboard.
Enjoy the adventure with an Alpine Guide and learn how to handle yourself as you push off the beaten track and enter the wilder side of the mountain.
What we will do
The meeting with the Alpine Guide is scheduled at 7:30 a.m . in Courmayeur (AO). After an introductory briefing on the activity and an explanation of the self-rescue rules with probe, shovel and artva (provided free of charge by the guide), you will ascend in altitude with the SkyWay cableway to Punta Helbronner (3,462 m).
TheVallée Blanche freeride itinerary starts right here, developing for the first kilometres among glaciers, granite pinnacles, crevasses and seracs, in a spectacular scenery that leaves you breathless.
Zig-zagging across the snow, you will reach a fantastic plateau at the foot of the Dente del Gigante, a peak so sharp that it resembles a gigantic tusk. Here you will take a break to recover your energy and eat a packed lunch.
Then we will resume the off-piste descent in the direction of Montenvers, ending with the arrival in the beautiful town of Chamonix, on French territory. Here it will be a must to stop and toast with a good beer before returning to Courmayeur by bus.
The activity has a total duration of about 7 hours for an actual freeride route of 20 km.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is at an intermediate level and is aimed at skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers with a good technical level on the piste and at least some previous off-piste experience. You can participate from 14 years of age.

This activity can be carried out from January to April, depending on snow and weather conditions and the guide's availability.
At the end of the ski season, when snow is scarce, it may be necessary to cover the last part of the descent with the cogwheel train to Chamonix.
