Come and discover the fascination of the underground world with aspeleological excursion in the caves that make up"La Tana che urla", a large karstic cavity in the heart of the Apuan Alps!
You will be plunged into distant geological eras, among waterfalls and underground streams, and you will be impressed by the bizarre shapes of the stalactites and stalagmites, which create a scenario of great visual impact.
Your guide will reveal all the secrets of the limestone formations and you will experience the fascinating sensation of being in complete darkness and silence. It will be an incredible experience!
What we will do
We will meet at the free car park in Fornovolasco, in the province of Lucca. There we will meet the guide who will provide us with the wetsuit and the rest of theequipment, and all together we will walk to the cave entrance. After a briefing on how to move inside, we will turn on our headlamps and enter the cavity.
We will follow the course of an underground stream, cross waterfalls and finally find ourselves in a pond for a 'mineral' bath. We will go as far as the passage is accessible, passing through bottlenecks and points where we will feel very close to the centre of the earth. Then we will visit the 'room of silence', a place where, if we all keep quiet, we will be able to hear a sound similar to a human scream, which gives the cave its name.
In the final section we will use ropes to descend down an underground waterfall and return to the access point towards the car park. The cave excursion lasts between three and four hours and is suitable for anyone who does not feel uncomfortable in enclosed spaces.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is at an easy level and is open to everyone in good health, aged 8 years and above. No specific skills are required and minors must always be accompanied by an adult.

Attention! Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.
The activity takes place throughout the year at set times and is confirmed when there are at least 4 participants. For groups of at least 6 people, it is possible to request departure times other than the standard ones.
It is not possible to take a shower on site at the end of the excursion.
In the event of severe bad weather the activity will be suspended and you will be notified by the organiser.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport. Free parking is available nearby.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
