Full description
Have you always skied the slopes and now want to raise the challenge level?
Take an introductory ski mountaineering lesson in the Gaver Plain, at the foot of Mount Blumone. You will discover an exciting winter sport that combines the challenge of mountain hiking with the thrill of downhill skiing.
With special equipment such as adjustable bindings and seal skins attached to your skis, you will ascend snow-covered slopes with agility in a 4-hour lesson with an Alpine Guide, and then embark on free descents on fresh, unexplored snow slopes.
What we will do
We will meet with the Alpine Guide 15 minutes before the indicated time in Breno, at Gaver (or other location depending on snow conditions) .
We'll start with a briefing on ski-mountaineering techniques and analysis of the snowpack, to better understand the route conditions and how to deal with them safely.
After putting on our seal skins under our skis, we will begin the ascent on the snowy slopes of the Gaver Plain, accompanied by the Alpine Guide. The itinerary will be chosen according to the level of the group and the snow conditions, guaranteeing an experience suitable for all.
The ascent will be a special moment: the silence of the mountain, the rhythm of the steps and the panorama around will allow us to discover Mount Blumone from a completely new perspective.
Once at the top, the most exciting part will begin: the free descent on fresh snow, tracing our lines on pristine slopes. During the lesson, we will also learn how to use the safety kit (shovel, ARTVA and probe) and how to interpret mountain signs, which are fundamental for moving with awareness in an untracked environment.
At the end of the 4-hour lesson, we will return to our starting point.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone from the age of 16.
It is not necessary to have already skied off-piste, but it is essential to be able to ski safely on groomed red slopes and have good ski control.
