Full description
Have you always skied on the slopes and now want to take it to the next level?
Join an introductory ski mountaineering lesson at Passo Coe. You’ll discover an exhilarating winter sport that combines the challenge of mountain hiking with the thrill of downhill skiing.
Using specialised equipment such as adjustable bindings and climbing skins attached to your skis, you’ll ascend the snow-covered slopes with ease during a 4-hour lesson with a Mountain Guide, before setting off on free descents down slopes of fresh, untouched snow.
What we will do
We will meet up with the mountain guide 15 minutes before the scheduled time in Folgaria (TN) (or another location depending on snow conditions) .
We’ll start with a briefing on ski mountaineering techniques and snowpack analysis, to better understand the route conditions and how to tackle them safely.
After fitting our climbing skins to our skis, we’ll begin the ascent up the snow-covered slopes of Passo Coe, accompanied by the mountain guide. The route will be chosen based on the group’s ability and snow conditions, ensuring an experience suitable for everyone.
The ascent will be a special moment: the silence of the mountains, the rhythm of our steps and the surrounding panorama will allow us to discover the area from a completely new perspective.
Once at the top, the most exciting part begins: the free descent on fresh snow, carving our own lines down pristine slopes. During the lesson, we’ll also learn how to use the safety kit (shovel, avalanche transceiver and probe) and how to interpret the signs in the mountains, which are essential for navigating safely in untracked terrain.
At the end of the 4-hour lesson, we’ll return to the starting point.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone from the age of 16.
It is not necessary to have already skied off-piste, but it is essential to be able to ski safely on groomed red slopes and have good ski control.
