Full description
Imagine your gaze caught by a colourful'kite' flying in the sky, above a body of water. You then realise that it is tied by a string to a person: you watch how it moves, how it keeps control of the kite and think'I want to do that too'!
With us you can, or rather, with our VDWS-qualified kite instructor: take an introductory kitesurfing lesson on Lake Como. Between theoretical and practical part, within 1 hour you will be able to manage your sail!
What we will do
I will be waiting for you 30 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Dervio (LC). All you need to do to find me is follow the "kites", the sails of my kitesurfs that colour the sky above Lake Como!
To welcome you there will be me, your VDWS qualified kite instructor. We will start our lesson on land, with a 10 minute part of basic kite theory . At 12 noon we will pick up our equipment and board the boat, reaching the centre of the lake in just 2 minutes.
Get ready to put into practice in the water what you have learned in the classroom. Attached to me, you will learn how to handle the sail and how to let yourself be pulled through the water. Throughout the entire experience you will communicate with me via transceiver, through which I will show you positions to hold and movements to make in order to control the kite. Thanks to my advice you will soon become a sailing champion!
When all participants on board have finished their activities, we will return to the meeting point. The basic kitesurfing experience lasts a total of 1 hour but the time spent on board may vary depending on the number of participants, so we recommend you consider the whole afternoon.
Who it is aimed at
The lesson is suitable for everyone from the age of 10.
It is not necessary to know how to swim to take part in this activity.
This experience is of an easy level and suitable for a first time kitesurfer; it is not recommended for those with previous kitesurfing experience.
Other information
Warning. This experience is intended exclusively for beginners; during the experience, you will not be kitesurfing on the board independently but will learn how to handle the sail with the support of the instructor.
The experience is available from May to September.
The lessontime may vary depending on weather and wind conditions at the instructor's discretion.
When booking, you can select up to a maximum of 3 participants. The in-water practical test is individual but you can share the experience on board with relatives or friends who choose to participate in the kitesurfing lesson with you.
Any accompanying persons are welcome as long as they stay ashore; there is a bar on site.
Lockers for storing personal items are available on site.
It is possible to request an additional pick-up service by dinghy from Varenna, Bellagio or Menaggio: contact the instructor at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email to submit your request for a fee.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed-date booking and the weather conditions are not suitable for safely carrying out the activity (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be fully refunded. The guide may offer you an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to accept or decline these proposals. If you cannot reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund!
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
