Full description
If you love places where the boundary between river and sea becomes blurred, this experience in the Po Delta is a great way to discover them!
You’ll set sail from Porto Garibaldi for a cruise through canals, lagoons and natural habitats teeming with numerous species of birds. During this 5-hour-and-30-minute motorboat excursion, you’ll visit iconic spots such as Isola dell’Amore, Po di Goro and Sacca degli Scardovari.
To make the experience even more enjoyable, you’ll be treated to a traditional lunch on board featuring local specialities!
What we will do
We’ll meet 30 minutes before departure time at Porto Garibaldi (FE), a hamlet of Comacchio. The crew who will be accompanying us on our cruise through the Po Delta will be waiting for us there.
We’ll board the motorboat and set off, sailing along the northern beaches of Comacchio and past the mussel farms off the coast of Porto Garibaldi. During the trip, we’ll be able to spot numerous species of waterbirds and, with a bit of luck, see dolphins or sea turtles.
We’ll continue towards the Po di Goro, either crossing the Sacca di Goro or reaching the river’s mouth by sea, depending on the conditions on the day. We’ll then sail up the waterway to the historic Vecchia Lanterna, an ancient landmark for local navigation.
We’ll then stop for about 45 minutes at Isola dell’Amore. Those who wish can go for a swim, whilst nature lovers can head up to the observation tower to take in the surrounding landscape from above.
We’ll continue our journey along the Po di Gnocca, also known as the Po di Donzella, to the Sacca degli Scardovari, amidst pools of water, reed beds and historical landmarks such as the large casone linked to the memory of the 1951 Polesine flood.
Lunch will be provided during the excursion, comprising seafood risotto, fried fish with chips, Comacchio-style ciambella, water, wine, coffee and a digestif.
The activity will last a total of 5 hours and 30 minutes.
