For more than 20 years, the Vite Colte winery in Barolo has been carrying out an oenological project that combines wine and culture, as well as more than 180 winegrowers from all over Piedmont.
Among their 50 labels, wines from Nebbiolo grapes stand out par excellence, which you will learn about on a journey to discover the expression and evolution of this grape variety in the company of a guide.
An experience that is much more than a simple wine tasting with a visit to the cellar, but a true homage to the culture and tradition of the Langhe!
What we will do
The appointment is 5 minutes before the time selected at the time of booking at the Vite Colte winery in Barolo (CN). On our arrival, we will be welcomed by the guide who will lead us to discover the wines made from Nebbiolo grapes.
Once the group has gathered, our tour will begin: walking along an 800-metre walkway with a view of the Langhe hills, we will first admire the surrounding area, after which we will enter the cellar rooms where we will discover the secrets of the winemaking process according to the Vite Colte method, excellently represented by the illustrative panels by the artist MAUPAL.
We will linger in particular in the Nebbiolo room and in the ageing room, as well as the largest barrique cellar in Piedmont, which houses more than 3,000 barriques. After the visit, which will last about 40 minutes, we will be welcomed into thewine cellar to begin our tasting of four glasses of Nebbiolo wine. In order we will taste
- Langhe Nebbiolo D.O.C. "Sogni al Campo"
- Barbaresco D.O.C.G. "La Casa in Collina".
- Barolo D.O.C.G. "Paesi Tuoi".
- Barolo D.O.C.G. "Essenze".
All the wines we will taste are named after the titles of Cesare Pavese's novels: a tribute to the author and his origins. The tasting will be accompanied by a selection of local cured meats and cheeses and dry baked goods.
The experience will last about 1½ hours in total .
Who it is aimed at
The experience is recommended for participants aged 18 and over.
The wine tasting is reserved for participants aged 18 and over only. Accompanying persons under 18 years of age or persons with astemia can participate in the experience by selecting the"Accompanying persons" option when booking.
The tasting room is wheelchair-accessible; a companion is required for the cellar visit.
Other information
The experience takes place all year round with the exception of February.
There is free parking for guests on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.
Dogs are only allowed in the tasting room; they are not allowed in the cellar.
For those who wish to complete the experience with lunch, there is a restaurant on the premises that is open from 12:00 to 14:00.
