You know the expression ‘switch off’, don’t you? Well, here we’re taking it a step further, because all you need to do is uncork a good bottle!
Come and enjoy a fantastic vineyard picnic in San Dorligo della Valle at the Parovel winery. First, you’ll explore the underground cellars to discover the secrets of local winemaking, then you’ll relax amongst the vine rows, tasting native Karst wines and extra virgin olive oils paired with local specialities.
What we will do
The event will take place at the selected time at the Parovel winery in San Dorligo della Valle (TS), set against the backdrop of the Karst.
We’ll begin with a guided tour of the winery’s underground cellars, where the barrel cellar and ageing barrels are housed. The guide will tell us the story of the Parovel family, who, since 1976, have been the first in the area to bottle local wines and Bianchera extra virgin olive oil.
We’ll discover the winemaking process and the grape varieties of the Carso-Kras DOC area, such as Istrian Malvasia, Vitovska, Glera and Refosco d’Istria. The winery tour will last around 20 minutes.
Afterwards, we’ll be given a picnic basket for every two people, a blanket and some cushions. We’ll be free to choose our favourite spot in the vineyard next to the winery, where we’ll relax whilst listening to the flow of the nearby River Rosandra.
When booking, we can choose the contents of our basket:
- traditional: a bottle of Barde white or red wine, water, a tasting of Petka Grand Blend and Rozo’ Family Selection extra virgin olive oils, a selection of Karst cured meats and cheeses, house-made olives, crostini with house-made spreads, and seasonal fruit.
- gourmet: a bottle of Barde white or red wine, water, a tasting of Petka Grand Blend Chef Collection extra virgin olive oils, Rozo’ Family Selection and Ul’ka DOP Tergeste Slow Food Presidium extra virgin olive oils, a selection of Karst cured meats and cheeses, homemade olives, crostini with homemade spreads, courgette carpaccio with grated cheese and extra virgin olive oil, fresh ricotta with honey, and seasonal fruit.
The experience will last approximately 2 hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for everyone, with no age restrictions.
The wine tasting is for adults only. Children who do not eat may take part in the experience free of charge (water or apple juice will be provided for them) ; there is no reduced price for those who do not drink alcohol.
The venue is accessible to people with reduced mobility and pushchairs, with the exception of the underground rooms, which are not accessible.

The experience takes place on the dates shown in the calendar and is confirmed once the minimum number of 2 participants has been reached.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
