Full description

Together we will discover an ancient craft, that of the dairyman.

We willvisit the dairy, witnessing the processing of milk. We will participate in a cheese workshop, creating our first cheese wheel. We will meet the animals in the cowshed, which we will accompany out to pasture. There will also be a lunch-tasting, based on home-grown and local products.

A day for the whole family in the beautiful natural setting of the Antigorio Valley, at the end of which we will return home with our first wheel of cheese!

What we will do

The appointment is at the selected time at the meeting point in Baceno (VB). We will be welcomed by the guide-cheesemaker , who will welcome us in his fragrant (and delicious) dairy!

Once all participants have gathered, anintroduction to the day we will spend together will take place. We will then receive the necessary equipment for the activity.

The experience will begin with a guided tour of the dairy: walking through the dairy's production halls, we will learn more about milk processing and watch the preparation of curds, which we will later see break up and begin their transformation into cheese. We will then participate in the cheese workshop, at which we will be able to create our own wheel of primo sale (which will, of course, go home with us)!

And now it's time for lunch-tasting (included), served in a dedicated room of the dairy: we will taste home-made cheeses and local cured meats, accompanied by black Ossola bread.

Full of energy (and more), we will each board our own means of transport to reach the venue for the second part of the experience in a few minutes. Here we will take part in a guided tour of the cowshed, getting to know the goats and kids who live there; for those who wish, it will also be possible to have a go at milking! We will then experience life in the pasture, witnessing the preparation of the pen and interacting with the animals in the beautiful natural setting of the Antigorio Valley.

Finally, we will return to the dairy to retrieve the cheese we will have produced and earn our"cheesemaker's diploma". The experience will end at 16:00 and will last a total of five and a half hours.

Who it is aimed at

The experience is suitable for everyone without age limits; children under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Children from 0 to 5 years old participate free of charge, but it is necessary to indicate their presence by contacting the guide at the contact details indicated in the booking confirmation e-mail.

There is free parking on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport; please note that the activity includes transfers by own vehicle.

The lunch-tasting includes, according to availability: fresh and mature cow's cheese, spress (a mixture of goat's and cow's milk), freshly made ricotta and Ossola goat's cheese; pork cacciatore, Ossola mortadella, local salami, lonzino and goat cacciatore.
