Discover the wonders of the seabed and lava walls of the Sicilian coast with anunderwater dive at the Santa Maria La Scala canyon in Acireale (CT).
Together with experienced dive instructors, you will dive to depths of up to 18, 30, or 40 metres, depending on your level of experience, and explore the canyon's underwater gorges while admiring a spectacular ecosystem populated by numerous fish species.
Wonderful plays of light, bright and colourful colours and... a sea of emotions await you!
What we will do
The meeting point for the activity is set at the small port of Ognina, in Catania. There we will meet the guides and have a safety briefing and then get dressed (tanks and ballasts are included in the participation fee, while the rest of the equipment can be hired separately).
When we are ready, we will move by dinghy to the coast of Acireale, where the Santa Maria La Scala dive site is located. This is an underwater lava canyon, made up of gorges and rocky walls in which the water is reflected, creating spectacular plays of light.
The conformation of the site makes it possible to dive to different depths, up to 18, 30 or 40 metres depending on the type of licence held, making it suitable for divers of all levels.
Among the fish species that can be encountered during this dive are lobsters, owl fish, bream, octopus and moray eels.
The activity lasts a total of about three hours, including at least 45 minutes of actual diving, and involves returning by dinghy to the port of Ognina.

This activity is intended for divers with at least an Open Water Diver licence.
Other information
This activity can be carried out all year round if there are at least four participants.
Diving equipment is not included in the participation fee (with the exception of tanks and ballasts) but can be provided by the diving centre at an additional cost. The rental of thecomplete equipment (wetsuit, fins, mask, gav and regulator) costs € 30, but individual parts can also be rented separately. After booking, you can arrange with the guide to hire what you need for the dive.
