Ever heard of sea baptism? An introductory experience toscuba diving, designed for those who want to try breathing underwater and discover the underwater world.
If the idea fascinates you, this is your chance to try it out in one of Sicily's most evocative locations: the Riviera dei Ciclopi.
In this one-and-a-half-hour experience, you will feel like an explorer by diving up to 5 metres into the clear waters of Aci Castello. An experienced instructor will also accompany you and teach you the secrets of becoming an expert diver!
What we will do
We will meet at the diving centre in Aci Castello (CT), where we will meet the instructors. Once the formalities have been completed, we will leave the premises and our instructor will give us a 35-40 minute presentation of what we are going to do.
He will explain the basics of diving, safety rules and how the equipment works. Then we'll get dressed in our wetsuit, tanks, regulator, fins and mask, and head out to the sea, doing a little bit of boardwalk.
The diving centre is only five metres from the sea, so in a few minutes we will be ready to dive. We will do an acclimatisation test, then descend to a seabed of about 2½ metres and finally experience thethrill of breathing underwater. We will relax and get used to the new sensation, then the instructor will adjust our gas and explain how to fin, and slowly we will move into the water, up to a maximum depth of 5 metres.
For about 30 minutes we will explore the seabed, with its colours and shapes. We will be able to see fish, corals, algae and perhaps even some historical finds. Then we will return to the surface and take a nice hot shower to warm ourselves up.
Finally, we will be offered snacks to refresh us and we will be given the Try Scuba Patent, which will qualify us for Sea Baptism. The experience lasts about one and a half hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is open to everyone from 8 years of age. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, while those over the age of 14 can participate with a signed release form.
It is important that you know how to swim and that you do not have asthma, heart or epilepsy problems.

The activity is available all year round.
There are showers and changing rooms with lockers where you can leave your personal belongings in peace.
You can reach the activity venue by public transport. Free parking spaces are available on site.
Companions with leashed dogs are welcome and may stay at the venue or engage in other water activities or simply sunbathe on the beach.
