Sleddog Adventure in Entracque near Cuneo

Climb aboard a sledge pulled by wonderful snow dogs and set off on an exciting dog sledding adventure on the snowy paths of Castelmagno, a small Occitan village in province of Cuneo.

What we will do

We’ll meet 15 minutes before the selected time in Castelmagno (CN), a mountain village at an altitude of over 1, 700 metres, on a stunning family-run estate where the sled dogs live in complete comfort and freedom. Our hosts will welcome us and introduce us to our wonderful adventure companions: the Huskies!

This will be followed by preparing the dog team and a briefing to learn the basic techniques of sled driving. The dogs used for dog sledding are perfectly trained and able to assist even the least experienced drivers, but they must be treated properly and given the correct commands. The guides, of course, will also instruct us on this, and then we’ll be truly ready to set off!

Once on board the sledge, we’ll have around 30 minutes to complete a 3. 5 km route through the snow-covered woods, with climbs, descents and stunning views of the surrounding mountain peaks.

Anyone who doesn’t feel confident enough to drive the sledge on their own can ride alongside an instructor. Between runs , we’ll stop to catch our breath and let the dogs rest, before setting off again to enjoy the adventure right to the end!

Including the welcome, preparing the dogs, the technical briefing and the dog-sled tour, the activity will last approximately 1 hour in total.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is open to everyone from the age of 3.

Children aged 3 to 12 can participate in the experience on their own, travelling in the sled bag guided by the instructor. Parents must ensure that the children are able to carry out the excursion (remaining seated, not being frightened by the barking of the dogs at the start, and wearing clothing suitable for winter temperatures). Under no circumstances may the child be carried by a parent or family member. Should the child be unable to be transported in accordance with the above, he/she will not be able to take part in the excursion and no refund will be made.

To ride the sledge, one must be in good physical condition, be at least 13 years old and weigh less than 100 kg.

In the case of participants with illnesses, physical handicaps or other conditions, it is necessary to contact the organiser in order to better manage the experience.

Pregnant women cannot participate in the experience.

Other information

The activity is available from December to the end of March, subject to weather conditions and the presence of snow.

The route of the experience may vary depending on weather conditions, at the organiser’s discretion. The duration of the experience may vary depending on the number of participants and their level of experience.

The dog sledding activity involves:

• From the age of 13, participants may drive the sledge independently, subject to the assessment of the dedicated staff.
• Children aged 7 to 12 may take part in the experience by travelling on the sledge alongside the instructor.
• Children aged 3 to 6 take part in the experience in the sledge’s seat, guided by the instructor.

To ensure adequate freedom of movement, we recommend wearing warm clothing that is not overly padded (no ski jackets or ski trousers) .

For safety reasons, animals of any kind are strictly prohibited from entering the area where briefings and excursions take place. If you wish to bring your dog, you must contact the organiser well in advance.
